A Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina from 10 am to 8 pm Saturday. A combination of strong winds and dry fuels could lead to dangerous fire conditions.
A Freeze Watch is in effect for Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina from late Saturday night through Sunday morning. Freezing temperatures will kill or damage sensitive plants.
Cold and windy for the weekend….Bundle up! We’re tracking much colder weather for the weekend. As we move through our Saturday, high temperatures will climb into the low and mid 50s. However, it will feel much colder because of the wind. The winds will blow in from the southwest between 20 and 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Now, there will be a chance of rain Saturday morning, with a second round by Saturday afternoon, as an area of low pressure moves over the viewing area. We are not expecting a complete washout. Otherwise, we’ll see partly sunny skies. As temperatures fall late Saturday night, a few snowflakes could mix in with the rain for communities along the Peninsulas and the Eastern Shore, but little to no accumulation is expected.
With bitterly cold air in place Sunday morning, we’ll start the day with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. It will continue to be a cold and breezy through the day, with high temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. We’ll see plenty of sunshine on Sunday.
The sun will stick around on Monday with high temperatures in the 70s. Highs will be in the 70s on Tuesday, too, with showers and storms in the forecast.
Friday Night: Partly Cloudy. Isolated Showers (20%). Cold. Low temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Winds: SW 5-15 mph.
Saturday: Clouds and Some Sun. Scattered Showers (30%). Windy and Cool. High temperatures in the low and mid 50s. Winds: W/NW 20-30 mph, gusts to 40.
Sunday: Mostly Sunny. Breezy and Cold. High temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds: NW 10-20 mph.
