Verizon awards grant to Hampton University for middle school STEM program

Hampton, Va. – Verizon will award Hampton University (HU) a grant for the minority Male Makers Program.

The Minority Male Makers Program focuses on STEM- related interests including app design and development, robotics, basic coding, 3D design, 3D modeling and 3D printing.  Middle school boys from Hampton Roads will learn how to run a business and go on educational field trips.

Faculty and staff in the School of Engineering and the Department of Computer Science will take the lead in this program in the summer.

The grant will be given to HU on Friday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Science and Technology Building on Hampton University’s campus.
