Norfolk, Va. - Major utility replacement work is forcing a portion of Waterside Drive down to one lane at certain times, making travel down Waterside Drive especially difficult lately.

It's a project that's spearheaded by Hampton Roads Sanitation District. They're working to replace pipes from the 1940's.

The lane closures are scheduled to continue through late April, when event season starts up. Crews will start working again in the fall, and the closures will be back.

The road, between Saint Paul's Boulevard and Atlantic Street, is reduced to one lane westbound between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday and two lanes at all other times and during rush hours.

Motorists are encouraged to use E. City Hall Avenue as an alternate route. The bus stop on Waterside drive will not be affected.
