Police searching for 2 suspects after Newport News attempted robbery

Newport News, Va. - Police need your help identifying two suspects in the robbery of the Holiday Inn Express on 943 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.

It happened on March 10 at around 11:15 p.m.

One of the robbers had a gun, came up to the counter and demanded money.

The clerk, a 56-year-old Newport News woman, ran into the office and locked the door when she saw the suspect come up to the counter.

The suspect jumped over the counter and searched the drawers. The second suspect stayed near the entrance of the hotel and appeared to be acting as a lookout.

Both suspects left the hotel without taking any money.

The first suspect is described as a black male with a thin build around 5'7" to 5'8" and around 20-25 years old. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, red mask, brown gloves, tan shoes and was armed with a handgun

The second suspect is described as a black male wearing all black clothing and white sneakers.
