Congressman Bobby Scott supports the artistic talents of the youth

Newport News, Va. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) has announced the opening of the  annual ThirdCongressional District High School Art Competition.

An Artistic Discovery is a nationwide program directed by the U.S. House of Representatives. The program recognizes youth artists and is open to all high school students that live in the third Congressional District of Virginia.

All entries are due Friday, April 22 and may include paintings, drawings and photography. All entries must be original pieces.

The first place winner will receive a scholarship and a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a dinner in honor of all of the winners. The first place winners from each congressional district will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. capitol building for one year.

Congressman Scott will hand out certificates and other prizes to first place winners and finalists in Hampton Roads and Richmond. Dates for both receptions will be announced in the coming weeks.

All entries can be submitted at Congressman Scott’s Offices in Newport News and Richmond.
