Greensville County, Va. – Virginia State Police say a woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt when her car ran into a tree and killed her on February 17.

The wreck happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. on northbound Doyles Lake Road, south of Dry Bread Road.

The woman was traveling northbound on Doyles Lake Road in her 2003 Dodge Durango when she lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, 55-year-old Linda Burnette Newsome, was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries. She died later that afternoon.

Police say alcohol did not play a factor in the crash.
