Chesapeake, Va.  - Berkley Avenue in Chesapeake became a lake following today's rains.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time the roadway has flooded, but they have had enough and want the City to fix their drainage issues.

"We need your help come out and help us out and get this done, just please come out and help," said Pastor Perry Austin.

Thursday's flooding happened quickly, according to Austin. It trapped drivers who thought they could pass through the high waters and kept residents inside.

"We couldn't even get out because we were worried about car damage," explained Austin.

Austin says he has called the city multiple times about flooding on Berkley Avenue. Tonight, the city sent police officers to block off the road until public works came out and closed the roadway, a temporary fix according to Austin.

"It's ridiculous what they are doing they need to come out here and get something done."

Now he is hoping that something can be done before the next major storm hits.
