Bank robbery under investigation in Hampton

b1Hampton, Va. – Hampton police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the who robbed the Old Point National Bank on West Mellen Street on Friday

Shortly before 2 p.m. the man entered the bank and demanded money at gunpoint.

After taking an undisclosed amount cash he ran away.  No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0, 240 lbs, last seen wearing a black Nike hoodie, a black and white cloth covering the lower half of his face, and carrying a black briefcase.

Anyone with information that will assist police is encouraged to contact the Hampton Police Division at 727-6111 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.  Tipsters can also send an anonymous tip via text message to the Crime Line by texting “HAMPTONPDTIPS plus your tip” to 274637 (CRIMES).  Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court. If a Crime Line call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00.
