Norfolk, Va. - A third bed bug was discovered at Ruffner Middle School, according to a letter sent home to parents on Thursday.

"Norfolk Public Schools will continue to monitor classrooms/school for bed bugs, provide inspections of the school, and have a licensed pest control specialist assist with pest management," the letter reads.

The letter was sent to all parents because it was the third incident this year, according to a spokesperson for the school system. In addition to the letter, parents also received facts about bed bugs to help cut down on the spread.

Kids are bringing the bugs into the school. There is no infestation, according to the school system.

"That concerns me a little bit, but everytime it's supposedly one little bug," Fateema Wearing, a parent. "Hopefully they'll be able to isolate and correct the situation."

Last week, the school system also dealt with a bed bug. The spokesperson for NPS says they are working to being open and transparent with parents about the situation.
