Poquoson, Va. – Two boats collided in Poquoson, according to Laurie Naismith with Virginia Marine Resources.

The call came in around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The first boat, named “Point North,” is a 32 foot fishing boat.  Four people were on board and one person was ejected from the boat.

The second boat, “West VII,” is a 32 foot sailboat and is under Canadian flag.  Two people were sleeping on board and the lights were not turned on at the time of the incident.

“Point North” was headed toward Norfolk Canyon, a popular fishing spot, when it hit the “West VII” head on.

The sailboat has visible damage and is now at the Whitehouse Cove Marina.

Officials are investigating.  All passengers are accounted for and there are no reported injuries.
