Two men arrested, charged for Southampton Co. burglary

Southampton County, Va. – Two men have been arrested and charged in the case of a burglary that happened on Wednesday.

The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a burglary in progress in the 10000 block of Southampton Parkway around 2:00 p.m.

The victim of the burglary was hospitalized recently because of injuries from a car crash.

Units arrived around 2:20 p.m. and deployed a K-9 team.  Officers saw the two suspect run away.

Deputy John Griggs confronted one of the suspects and took him into custody. The second suspect was tracked down and located by deputies and a K-9.

Montrel L. Joyner, 24, and Kier Winfield, 25, were both charged with two counts of burglary and one count of destruction of property.

Winfield was out on bond for the burglary of a church that occurred in July.

Both of the suspects are scheduled for arraignment on October 6.

Joyner has a $2500 secured bond and Winfield has no bond.
