Norfolk bicyclist hit by car, seriously injured

Norfolk, Va. – A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Norfolk on Monday morning.

Norfolk Police say they responded to the 4100 block of Gosnold Avenue around 8:30 a.m. and found the bicyclist in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling southbound on Gosnold Avenue hit the bicyclist when the bicyclist entered the roadway from the sidewalk.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and waited for police and fire-rescue to respond.

The bicyclist was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

The 4100 block of Gosnold Avenue and the 600-700 blocks of Carolina Avenue are currently closed to all traffic.
