Vashon, Wash. – A setter named Tillie helped save her friend, a trapped basset hound named Phoebe, from a water tank after spending almost a week by her side.

“We are overjoyed to report that after being missing for a week, Tillie and Phoebe are now safe after being found deep in a ravine off monument road.”Vashon Island Pet Protectors said.

After searching for a week, the shelter received a tip from a community member on September 14.

They said that a dog had been coming up to them when they were out on their property and then returned to a ravine.

Once they received the call, the volunteers immediately headed to the ravine and heard a “woof” when they called out for Tillie.

They found Tillie laying beside an old water tank with her head resting on the concrete wall.

When the group looked down, they saw Phoebe lying in the water tank, laying on rubble that held her out of the water.

“A huge thanks to Joe Curiel for realizing something was up and a round of applause to the awesome and amazing Miss Tillie.” the group’sFacebook page said. “A true friend and a humbling example of the power of love.”
