Newport News, Va. - Kyle Adams was a "no-show" in court the day he was supposed to be representing someone, according to Newport News police. Officers say Adams was also pretending to be a lawyer.

He's a self-described political consultant who had ties to several well-known Hampton Roads politicians.

He's also previously been convicted for impersonating a police officer and embezzlement.

His newest charges stem from October 2014.

Newport News police tell NewsChannel 3 Adams told a man he would represent him in a case and the man paid Adams.

When the court date came, police say Adams never showed up.

Now he's indicted for obtaining money by a false pretense and practicing as an attorney without a license.
