Norfolk, Va. – Passengers aboard a Southwest Airlines flight had plans to see Florida earlier today, but they had to make an unexpected stop at Norfolk’s International Airport after reports of a fire in the bathroom.

Charles Braden, the Director of Market Development, tells NewsChannel 3 that the plane was coming from Providence. About 145 people were on the plane at the time.

There was an indication of smoke in the bathroom, but when the plane landed, there was no fire and no smoke.

They believe it may have been a faulty smoke detector that caused the problem.

Everyone was taken off of the plane and fire crews investigated.

There’s no word yet if the passengers will continue on this plan or if they will board another one instead.
