NORFOLK, Va. – A Crime Line tipster helped police find the driver of a car who ran over a woman on August 25 around 1 p.m.

Police have been searching for 27-year-old Novar A. Gayle since August.

Investigators say that an 18-year-old woman was standing outside of the passenger side of a dark blue Chevrolet Pickup talking with Gayle.

Gayle sped away during the conversation while the woman was still hanging onto the door.

As the truck was moving, the woman lost her grip when the passenger door handle broke and she was ran over by the rear tire.

She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Gayle was arrested in Newport News on October 6 and is being held in Newport News City Jail, charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding
