Eastern Shore teacher accused of sexually assaulting female students

An Accomack County man who teaches Spanish/foreign language at Pocomoke Middle School in Worcester County, Maryland is facing several charges stemming from the alleged sexual assaults on several female students.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation initiated their investigation on June 16th.

It was reported that William Albert Cathell, Jr. had inappropriately touched four 12 and 13-year-old girls during school hours.

There were six total incidents that reportedly occurred on the school grounds over a two-year period. Two of the victims were reportedly assaulted by Cathell more than once.

As a result of the investigation, multiple charges were filed against Cathell including sexual abuse of a minor, 3rd degree sex offense, 4th degree sex offense, and 2nd degree assault.

Cathell was arrested without incident at his residence in Accomack County.
