Moyok, NC - "A simple-minded man like me is going to pay it. It's hot outside!"

That was Gary Disharoon's reaction to almost getting scammed out of $1,500.

Now, he's taking action to make sure you're not a victim of the same scam.

A man called him pretending to work for Dominion Power and demanded Gary pay $1,500. The man on the phone said if they didn't pay, they would shut the power off.

It didn't end with the phone call. At one point, a fake power truck pulled into his driveway.

"The truck was a white Chevy service body truck that said "North Carolina Power" on it.  It also had lights and ladders on it."

Gary and his wife, Marie, called Dominion Power, who told them it was scam.

Dominion tells NewsChannel 3 it was not their truck and they are reporting this incident to police.
