Newport News Police investigate an overnight stabbing

Newport News, Va. – A physical altercation left two people stabbed in Newport News Saturday morning.

At 1:13 a.m., Police responded to a stabbing in the 800 block of Forrest Drive. When they arrived they found two Hispanic males suffering from what they called “undetermined life threatening laceration wounds” to their upper bodies. Both were transported to the hospital. No update on the extent of their injuries.

Edvin O. Vasquez, 18, of the 800 block of Forrest Drive was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Sergeant Randy Rajkumar says it appears that the three were drinking and at some point a physical altercation ensued between the two victims and the suspect leaving the two victims suffering from laceration wounds, and that all three knew each other.

The victims were 22 and 23-years-old. All three were residents of Newport News.
