Church’s Chicken robbed in Portsmouth

Portsmouth, Va. – Police are searching for a man who robbed the Church’s Chicken at 350 Effingham Street early Saturday morning.

Police communications received a 911 call about the robbery at approximately 1:53 a.m.

According to detectives, the man an employee taking out trash back into the business at gunpoint, then demanded money from store employees.

The employees complied with the man’s demands and the suspect then ran away.  No one was injured during the incident.

The man is described as a black male approximately 5’1” tall and weighted between 135-150 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a mask covering his face.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP℠  Callers are never asked to give their name or required to testify in court.  If a caller’s tip leads to an arrest, the recovery of drugs or stolen property they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
