Former employee charged in Chesapeake arson case

Chesapeake, Va. – A former employee of a Chesapeake business has been arrested in connection with an arson that caused nearly $60,000 damage to the office of his former employer.

34-year-old Maurice Anthony Wise was arrested last week and charged in the arson that occurred last March at Tidewater Green, a construction recycling business located in the 5300 block of W. Military Highway.

Mr. Wise has been charged with entering a building with the intent to commit a felony, burning a building with the intent to commit a felony, and grand larceny.

The Chesapeake Fire Marshal’s Office was assisted by investigators from the Virginia Beach Fire Marshal’s Office and their accelerant detection canine, Sadie, in determining the cause of the fire.
