Portsmouth, Va.- NewsChannel 3’s Kurt Williams went searching for the owner of Facenda's Café and Billiards off Airline Boulevard in Portsmouth.

There we found Vikki Facenda. She didn't know what was going on. We explained that we received an email about her, which read "She has the biggest heart, she helps anyone in need."

Vikki participates in the Relay For Life fundraiser to fight cancer, organized a motorcycle ride to put flags on the graves of local veterans, and helped raise money for a friend's mom who needed help with medical bills.

She recently held a pool tournament as a fundraiser for the family of a 13-year-old who has a brain tumor to help with the medical bills.

She sponsors a Girl Scout troop, has held fundraisers to raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse and the list goes on. The people who know her say she just has a big heart.

She's done all of this, friends point out, after serving in the Armed Forces.

For all those reasons we presented Vikki with a NewsChannel 3 People Taking Action award along with a $300 Visa gift card from our community partner Southern Bank.

She was stunned, "Wow!...Whew!...Well thank you that's all I know what to say....whew! I'm shocked...I'm like totally speechless."

And yes---running this business is a demanding full time job--so we had to ask, why she does all these things?

"Because that's what God said to do." Was her response. “The feeling of just knowing you're doing something right you're doing something good."
