Hampton, Va. — Hampton Police are looking for a man who is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday night.
Ernest Eugene McCotter, Jr., 23
Dispatch received a call at 7:52 PM about a shooting in the 1st block of Huffman Drive. Officers found an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound when they arrived on scene. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The victim and the suspect, who are known to each other, got into a verbal altercation and the suspect then displayed a firearm and shot the victim one time. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Ernest Eugene McCotter, Jr., 23, is wanted in connection with this incident. He currently has warrants on file for one count of Maiming and one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. He is considered armed and dangerous.
