Hampton, Va. – Hampton fire crews responded to a residential structure fire at 65 North Lake Loop Saturday morning around 10:20 a.m.
One of the residents took action and possibly extinguished the fire before crews arrived.
Battalion Chief Mick Barilla says the grease fire left an elderly female victim with significant burns to her left forearm. She was treated at the scene by medics then transported to Sentara Norfolk General.
The fire was contained to the stove area, and there was no significant damage to the home.
