Crews put out kitchen fire at Suffolk home

 Suffolk, Va. –   Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews put out a structure fire in the 100 block of Ferguson Place Friday evening.

Emergency Dispatchers were notified of the incident at 11:17 p.m. and the first units arrived on scene at 11:24 p.m. They found light smoke showing due to an active fire in the kitchen.

The fire was marked under control at 11:33 p.m. and fire damage was contained to the kitchen with moderate smoke damage throughout the house. The incident was determined to be a cooking fire with approximately $10,000 worth of damage to the home. There were no injuries.

Two adults and two children were displaced and declined assistance from Red Cross.

Engine 10, Engine 5, Engine 25, Ladder 5, Battalion 2, Medic 10, and EMS 1 responded to the scene. Driver Volunteer Fire Department staffed Engine 210 at Station 10 for backfill during the incident.
