Virginia Beach, Va. – The Access College Foundation honored 187 local high school graduates at its 2015 Scholarship Awards Luncheon on June 23.

The foundation helps in financing college for low-income students in South Hampton Roads. It has given nearly $500 million in financial aid and scholarships to help 50,000 students reach their higher education goals for over 27 years.

Author Wes Moore was the featured speaker at the event. Moore overcame a difficult childhood and went on to become a New York Times bestselling author and CEO of BridgeEdU, an education platform focused on college success. After the luncheon, the students were able to meet Moore during a Q&A session.
