Police arrest man who allegedly stole $15 from 7-Eleven customer, demanded victim buy him a Red Bull

Newport News, Va. - Police have arrested a man after an early morning robbery at the 7-Eleven at 15600 Warwick Blvd.

Police were dispatched to the 7-Eleven at 2:08 am for the reported robbery. They met the 24-year-old victim, who told them he had just pulled into the parking lot when a man approached his window and implied he had a gun.

The victim gave the man his wallet, which contained $15. The man then ordered him into the 7-Eleven and told the victim to buy him a Red Bull. The victim called 911 and attempted to alert employees he was being robbed. Hearing the victim's call, the robber left the 7-Eleven and attempted to take the man's car before realizing the keys were not in it.

He then returned to the 7-Eleven and demanded the keys.

While police were investigating, they observed a man matching the robber's description in the area of Ashbury Church on Warwick Blvd. who took off running when they tried to question him.

Ronnie Tynes was arrested after a short chase and was charged with one count of Robbery, one count of Abduction, one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and one count of Attempted Grand Larceny Auto.
