Man wanted for armed robbery of Portsmouth gas station

Portsmouth, Va. – Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Shell Gas Station located in the 3500 block of High Street on Friday, June 19, 2015.

Police communications received the 911 call at approximately 11:00 p.m.

According to detectives, the suspect entered the business by forcing an employee, taking out the trash, to let him inside through the back door. Once inside, police say the suspect demanded money from the employees and they complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspect then ran away from the store. No one was hurt during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing all dark clothing. The suspect stood approximately 6’-6’2 tall and weighed approximately 200 pounds. He was armed with a handgun and had a mask covering his face.

Detectives are releasing the surveillance video footage of the event and ask that anyone with information about this case to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP ℠. Callers are never asked to give their name or are required to testify in court. If a caller’s tip leads to an arrest, the recovery of drugs, or stolen property, they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
