Newport News, Va. – Investigators believe a car was intentionally set on fire in Newport News.

On June 5, at 3:45 a.m., crews responded to a car fire in the area of Old Fort Eustis Blvd. and Old Stable Road.

Crews arrived on scene and found a Chrysler PT Cruiser on fire.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.

The fire chief could not say exactly what led them to believe it was intentionally set, but says mechanical failure was ruled out.

The damaged is estimated to be around $5,000.

No injuries have been reported.
