UPDATE: Power has now been restored to all customers, including Sewells Point Elementary, Dominion Virginia Power officials say.

Norfolk, Va. – Sewells Point Elementary School is without power this morning in Norfolk, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

Dominion crews are working in Norfolk at Hampton Blvd. and Terminal Blvd. to make repairs after a power outage that occurred at 5:19 a.m. The outage  affected more than 7,000 customers, including Larchmont and Sewells Point elementary schools. More than half of those customers, near Hampton Blvd.  towards ODU, were restored between 5:20 a.m. and 5:47 a.m., Dominion officials say.

Dominion expects power to be restored for all customers by 8 a.m. in the Larchmont area.

Dominion is also working to switch power to an alternate source for as many customers as possible until repairs can be complete.

Norfolk Public Schools says the arrival time for students at Sewells Point Elementary School is 8:55 a.m. Dominion tells them that power is expected to be restored there before 8:55 a.m.

Saint Patrick Catholic School will also begin its school day at 9:00 a.m. today due to the power outage.
