Man shot in face, neck during shooting at Franklin party

Franklin, Va. – A 22-year-old man suffered injuries to his face and neck from shotgun pellets after shots were fired at a party at a Franklin apartment complex early Sunday morning.

According to the Franklin Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired around 1:10 a.m. at the Dorchester Square Apartments. When officers arrived, a crowd was dispersing by vehicle and on foot. Officers could not locate any victims or witnesses.

A short time later, officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim at Southampton Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

They found that 22-year-old Tony Sledge Jr. had been struck in the face and neck by shotgun pellets. He was treated and released.

The investigation revealed that at least two people were shooting — one with a shotgun and the other with a pistol. Two apartments were hit by gunfire but no other injuries were reported.
