Woman arrested on DUI, other charges after hitting state trooper’s vehicle during pursuit

Norfolk, Va. – A Chesapeake woman was arrested on multiple charges after crashing into a state police vehicle in Norfolk while fleeing from state troopers who had attempted to pull her over.

The chase began at 3:55am when a state trooper attempted to pull over 35-year-old Crystal Lynn Jones for speeding and a possible DUI on I-264 West at Newtown Road.

State police chased Jones into Norfolk, where she struck the state police vehicle, then crashed into the jersey barrier at the ramp to Waterside Drive from I-264 westbound. She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for minor injuries.

Jones was then arrested and booked in the Norfolk jail on the following charges:

  • DUID
  • Speed 80/55 MPH
  • Felony Elude
  • Driving while suspended
  • Felony assault on a law enforcement officer
  • Felony state property damage
  • Possession of Schedule I narcotics
