Virginia Beach, Va. (WTKR) -JEB Little Creek-Fort Story honored the 93 men and women stationed there who have died during service to our country since 9/11 during a Bell Tolling Ceremony Thursday.

Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEBLCFS) held the ceremony in recognition of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.

“Each year unfortunately the number goes up. These are our shipmates and people we see around the base. It’s very personal for a lot of us who have been in the military since 9/11,” Captain Frank Hughlett, Commanding Officer of JEB Little Creek-Fort Story told NewsChannel 3’s Todd Corillo Thursday.

“A person dies twice. Physical death and then their name is never spoken again. We make sure that the heroes live on forever. Especially at Little Creek. This is community. This family we lost over the last 14 years,” he continued.

This is the third year the ceremony has been held at JEB Little Creek-Fort Story.
