Newport News, Va. – A man was found dead after a stabbing in a Newport News boarding home early Sunday morning.
Officials responded to a report with an individual screaming in the background. Upon arrival, polices found 47-year-old Lemuel Theodore Mitchell at the entry way of the boarding home where he was residing.
Mitchell heard a knock at the front door, went downstairs, and opened the door for a man. It was during this altercation that Mitchell was then stabbed.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police have arrested 23-year-old Kadeem Andre-Valdez Hutchins in connection to the stabbing. He has been charged with murder, use of a knife in the commission of a felony and attempted robbery.
