Yorktown, Va. – Crews are working to complete emergency repairs to a leaking sanitary sewer main in the 700 block of Hornsbyville Road in York County.

HRSD was notified of the leak in the 16-inch concrete pipeline on Sunday night around 11:30 p.m. The cause of the leak is still unknown.

One lane of the two-lane road has been closed to provide access to the pipeline.  Flaggers are present to direct traffic through the work area and motorists are urged to use caution.

Due to the leak, an undetermined amount of untreated wastewater has reached Wormley Creek.

Residents who live upstream and downstream of the break should avoid recreational activities on this waterway until the repair has been finished.
