Newport News woman accused of slashing man’s throat, threatening him with his own gun

Newport News, Va. – A woman is behind bars after police say she slashed a man’s throat, took his gun and ran away from the scene with it.

This happened at around 8:30 p.m. on March 20th.

Police were called out to the 11400 block of Jefferson Avenue about the stabbing.

They talked to the man, a 25-year-old Newport News man, who says Brittney Rachelle Jenkins cut him in the throat while she was in his home.

He says she then took his gun, brandished it and ran away.

He then went to a house nearby and called for help. The two know each other.

Jenkins has been charged with malicious wounding, robbery, abduction, brandishing a firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

She turned herself in on March 29th at 1:30 a.m. and is now in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
