Man convicted of sex crimes in York County and Newport News escapes, later found under porch

Chesterfield County, Va. – An inmate at the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation assaulted a guard at a Chesterfield treatment facility on Professional Road and escaped Thursday morning for about four hours before he was found hiding under a porch.

54-year-old Robert Hanna is a convicted sex offender. He was found under a porch in the 2700 block of Lansdale Road in South Richmond, according to WTVR

Hanna was convicted of abduction in York County on August 20th 1979, and of rape and attempted rape in Newport News on June 5th 1979.

On Thursday, March 26 at 8:23 a.m., Hanna, who is in the custody of the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation, assaulted a guard at the treatment facility in the 2500 block of Professional Road. He then escaped and ran away toward the City of Richmond.
