Hampton police searching for suspect in early-morning shooting

Hampton, Va. – Hampton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who shot a man early Monday morning.

At 4:26 a.m., Public Safety Communications received a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Guthrie Road.

Officers found a 37-year-old Hampton man suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation and there is no suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information that will assist police is encouraged to contact the Hampton Police Division at 727-6111 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters can also send an anonymous tip via text message to the Crime Line by texting “HAMPTONPDTIPS plus your tip” to 274637 (CRIMES). Crime Line callers remain anonymous and never appear in court. If a Crime Line call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00
