There are few BIG traffic changes for this weekend to be aware of…
I- 264 EB in Portsmouth (Heading into Norfolk):
Closed from Portsmouth Blvd thru the Downtown Tunnel.
Detour starts at Portsmouth Blvd over to the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge and onto I-464 NB to get into Downtown Norfolk.
Starts Friday at 8 PM thru Monday at 5 AM.
This will continue nightly next week as well FYI!
I- 264 WB in Portsmouth (Heading into Portsmouth & towards Suffolk):
Down to one lane in the Downtown Tunnel overnight only 8 PM – 8AM Friday and Saturday night.
Once you make it through the tunnel traffic will detour at Effingham Blvd. You will then drive down London Blvd to Frederick Blvd back on to I-264 WB. The detour will also only be at night WB towards Suffolk.
In addition, the ON RAMPS from Effingham will be closed onto I-264. The on ramps at Portsmouth Blvd and Frederick Blvd will be closed onto 264 East.
This is a major construction project and you should expect traffic on the other alternate routes like the Midtown Tunnel and the High Rise Bridge on I-64 in Chesapeake.
