UPDATE: Although the report was classified originally as a robbery and attempted abduction, a review by the detective supervisor found the elements of abduction were not present, police tell NewsChannel 3. The report classification should have been robbery only, police say.

Virginia Beach, Va.  - Virginia Beach Police are looking for the person who attempted to abduct a child in the middle of the afternoon.

Police say on Monday, a child reported that someone approached them, assaulted them and attempted to grab them while they were on Jude Court.

Residents describe the neighborhood as quiet and family friendly, but after hearing about the attempted abduction, they are second guessing their surroundings.

"It means I need to be more vigilant," explained Sharon Bugler, a Jude Court resident and teacher at a Virginia Beach Public School. "I had  felt fairly safe, I think I got a false sense of security because I never had anything happen that close."

Virginia Beach Police are still investigating the incident.
