UPDATE: One dead, another wounded in two Norfolk shootings

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim killed in Saturday morning's shooting.  Police have identified the victim as 30-year-old Floyd Beard of the 900 block of Bagnall Road in Norfolk.  But family members tell us she preferred to be called Lamia Beard.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Norfolk, Va. - One woman is dead and a man wounded after two separate shootings in Norfolk early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m. a 911 caller reported a gunshot victim at 700 E. 25th Street.

When police arrived, they found a 30-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she later died.

Later, shortly after 6:30 a.m., a 911 caller reported a gunshot victim two blocks away in the 2500 block of Leo Street.

When police arrived, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, Norfolk Detectives are trying to determine whether or not the shootings are related due to the close proximity.
