Hampton, Va. – Fire crews put out a laundry room fire at a home in Hampton early Saturday morning in the 200 block of Albert E. Simpson Street.
As firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were visible from the back of the home. Three residents had already fled the home after being alerted by smoke detectors.
The Hampton Fire Marshal’s office investigated and found the fire was accidental and started in the laundry room dryer.
The Red Cross was requested to assist three adults who were displaced.
