3-year-old hit by car in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police responded to an accident involving a toddler that was hit by a car this morning, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

Emergency Communications received the call at 8:31 a.m. regarding a child that was struck by a vehicle in the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway at Heritage Acres Apartments.

Police say the 3-year-old boy had been standing just off of the curb with his mother, when he was struck by the front bumper of the vehicle. He received emergency medical
assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, NewsChannel 3 has learned.

The driver, Tierra Johnson, age 26, of Suffolk, remained on scene and was issued a summons for Reckless Driving.
