Washington, DC – The executive officer of the U.S. Navy Band, Lt. Cmdr. Bruce McDonald, has been relieved of command over personal misconduct.

Capt. Brian Walden, commanding officer of the U.S. Navy Band, relieved of McDonald of his executive officer duties, according to a release from the Navy.

The action was related to inappropriate electronic communications between McDonald and the spouse of another service member, according to the Navy Times.

McDonald has been reassigned to the staff of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. A replacement for Lt. Cmdr. McDonald has yet to be named.

The DC-based United States Navy Band is the premier musical organization of the Navy. With 174 enlisted musicians and four officers, the band performs more than 270 public concerts and 1,300 ceremonies a year.
