UPDATE: Police identify teen killed in Chesapeake crash

Chesapeake, Va. – A teen has died as a result of a crash in Chesapeake, police tell NewsChannel 3.

The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Damion Tucker of the 4400 block of S. Military Hwy.

On December 7, 2014 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Chesapeake Police responded to the 4200 block of Rotunda Avenue for a vehicle accident.

When officers arrived on scene, they met with the driver who told police she veered off the road in an attempt to avoid striking a deer.

The vehicle, a Volkswagen Passat, was traveling northbound on Rotunda Avenue when it left the road and hit a tree. The driver’s 13-year-old son, who was a passenger in the vehicle and wearing a seatbelt, died on scene. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say.

The cause of this accident is under investigation.
