Suffolk family of three displaced by house fire

A family of three has been displaced after their Suffolk home was damaged by a fire on Friday evening.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 600 block of S. 6th Street in downtown Suffolk at 7:12 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story residence.

The family had escaped the home before fire crews arrived. There were no injuries reported.

The fire was ruled electrical in nature and was called under control at 7:37 p.m.

The two adults and teen are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
