Norfolk Police searching for a man who shot at police during traffic stop

Norfolk, Va. – Around 1:30 p.m., Norfolk Police Department began searching for a man who fired a gun at police officers. The incident began with a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Harrell Avenue.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after noticing a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The driver of the vehicle got out and began running. The officers gave chase after him. The suspect then shot at officers as he was running from them.

The officers continued to give chase, but were unable to locate him.

Police have identified the suspect as a black male, late teens to early 20’s, around 5’9”, weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hat and black jeans.

No officers or civilians were injured during this incident, and officers did not return fire.
