Newport News, Va. – About 1,100 Dominion customers remain without power after an accident knocked over a pole in Newport News.

The crash initially knocked out power to 1,822 customers. Dominion Power restored service to 719 of them by switching them to another circuit.

The remainder, including Riverside Rehabilitation Institute and the Wythe Fire Station, will be restored by 1 p.m. once crews replace the pole.

Riverside Rehab Institute does have a backup generator, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
