Update: Man arrested in Suffolk stabbing

UPDATE:  Suffolk Police have identified the suspect in this stabbing as Johnnie M. Hinton, age 55, of Suffolk. He was arrested and charged with burglary, malicious wounding,  and shoot, cut, stab, or wound. He is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional.

The victim has been identified as Andrew Pruitt, age 25, of Suffolk. He remains hospitalized at Sentara Norfolk General at this time.

Suffolk, VA. – Suffolk Police responded to a stabbing that occurred on the 200 block of Cedar Street in downtown Suffolk this evening.

Emergency dispatchers received the call at 6:17 p.m. and the first units arrived to the scene at 6:20 p.m. The 25 year-old man victim had multiple stab wounds to the torso. Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel treated the man until he was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
