Two-year-old girl, parents hit by car in Hampton

Hampton, Va. (WTKR) - A two-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries when she and her parents were hit by a car in the 1st block of West Mercury Blvd. in Hampton Tuesday night.

All three were taken to a local hospital, the girl was then airlifted to CHKD for further treatment.

Her parents, a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Newport News suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, which happened shortly after 10pm.

The three had crossed the eastbound lanes of East Mercury Boulevard and were attempting to cross the westbound lanes of West Mercury Boulevard when they were struck by a 2000 Mercury Cougar, according to police.

The crash is being investigated by the members of the Hampton Police Division Reconstruction Team and remains under investigation.

The driver of the vehicle which struck the pedestrians remained on the scene and is fully cooperating with police.

Hampton Police say no charges have been filed.
